Local flat track motorcycle riders in the New England Dirt Track Series that race in the six-state area were recently honored at the Knights of Columbus in Gardner.
Bobby Bettencourt of West Bridgewater won the 100-160-class title while Wareham's Mark Johnson came in fourth.
C.J. McAdam of Pembroke placed third in the 125 Armatures followed by Bettencourt.

NASCAR has named comedian Frank Caliendo to host the Sprint Cup Series Awards Ceremony on Dec. 4 at the Wynn hotel in Las Vegas.
(The awards ceremony will be broadcast live on Speed on Dec. 4, at 9 p.m. EST.)
David Gray and Escala will be the musical acts.

At the beginning of last Saturday's NASCAR Nationwide Series race, at the Phoenix International Raceway, driver Chris Cook received a black flag and was ordered by race officials to take his #47 JTG-Daugherty Racing Toyota to the garage area.
That action was based on the fact that the team did not have a proper pit area.
In this case this particular pit stall was completely devoid of the personnel and equipment needed by the driver and the car.

The U.S. Army Accessions Command announced Friday that the U.S. Army will continue its sponsorship of Tony Schumacher's Top Fuel dragster in the National Hot Rod Association and will return as a primary sponsor of Ryan Newman and the No. 39 Chevrolet Impala SS for 15 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races in 2010.

"I've heard it said that F1 is now the feeder system for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series," Toyota Racing Development president Lee White said with a laugh.
"Maybe there's a future there."
White helped arrange a test last month for Formula One driver Brazilian Nelson Piquet Jr . in a Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra, and F1 veterans Jarno Trulli of Italy and Mika Salo of Finland were to test stock cars Tuesday and Wednesday at New Smyrna , Fla., for Michael Waltrip Racing.
